Lots has already happened at the CSA Summit and RSA conference this year, and it is only the first day!

Here are a few observations I think are interesting from the first day.

Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) is here! If you were one of the lucky few that was able to actually get into the Cloud Security Alliance Summit (there was a line of 300+ people waiting to get into a room that easily held over 1,000), you would have heard that the SDP is the new “it” thing.

Cryptzone’s own Jason Garbis gave an outstanding presentation on this up and coming technology, how it impacts your security and how it is a major factor in solving compliance issues for your enterprise. He also announced the release of the SDP IaaS standard that he has been driving, and can be found here for download.

Got Compliance? While this is just an initial observation, compliance is going to be a huge thing at RSA this year. Julia White from Microsoft highlighted how their products address GDPR considerations (Cryptzone is also doing this – stay tuned) and the general tenor around the expo hall is that everyone has to address this compliance elephant in the room.  Finally! This is something that I have been addressing for many years, and it is great to see that more vendors and companies are emphasizing compliance controls as part of their overall security strategy and vision.

30,000 friends and counting! Yes, the attendance at the conference this year is expected to exceed 30,000 security and IT professionals.  I hope to have a chance to meet them all! Having the best and brightest in the information security world all in one location is a unique experience, and one that I always appreciate. The chance to interface with my peers and friends in the community in person is a great thing, and the networking alone makes the conference a success!

I will be tweeting all week from the conference. You can follow me on Twitter at @CloudSecChris for continuous updates from the conference.  You should also check out the official Cryptzone Twitter account at @Cryptzone. Finally, if you are in the South Expo Hall, stop by the Cryptzone booth (#407) and give the prize wheel a spin – we are giving away NES Classics and Raspberry Pis, as well as T-Shirts and other various booth goodies.

Have a great conference!
